Glasgow's garage punk faithful have a date on Saturday. BUCKFEST, the Fuzz Factory's annual all-dayer, returns to Bar Bloc for its 15th year. True to tradition, it won't cost you a penny.
The essentials: Saturday 3 October, from 3.30pm until late, at Bar Bloc, 117 Bath Street, Glasgow city centre. Entry is free and there are no tickets. You just turn up.
The organisers put it more colourfully in their own listing: "Such a shindig must cost millions you say?! Nuh huh!!! all for zilch, nada, free!" They add: "Just turn up, get correct, and let the noise wash over you."
Masked hosts and travelling bands
The Bucky Rage lead the charge. The masked garage punk outfit host both the Fuzz Factory club nights and BUCKFEST itself. The listing promises "an onslaught of fuzzed out bangers, delinquent ditties and borstal bops" from Glasgow's own "banditos".
Planet Strange head north from Bristol. The psychobilly act is billed as "infectious Rot 'n' Roll" with "tales of horror and damnation".
David Delinquent & The I.O.U.s make the trip from Dundee. The organisers call them "pop punk princes" with "attitude by the bucketload. Bad intentions, brilliant tunes."
The rest of the bill
- The Kosher Pickles play warped garage-psych built on vintage riffs. The listing calls it "an absolute trip outside your jar".
- The Dead Shout bring riotous rockabilly all the way from London. The listing warns: "Expect some Buckfast in yer Gumbo!"
- Sha Rivari & The Maybes, from Edinburgh, mix 80s synths with 60s garage riffs and a punk attitude.
- BALD make their debut outing. The organisers call them "Glasgow's latest victims of male pattern baldness" and say the band are "as angry as they are ridiculous".
Between sets, Neil Macinnes of The Cult of Fuzz will keep the records spinning all day. The organisers boast that "the best record collection in Glasgow will be in full attendance".
Fifteen years of fuzz
This is the 15th annual BUCKFEST, and it remains a fixture of the Fuzz Factory's run of club nights at Bloc. The bill takes in garage punk, psychobilly, rockabilly and synth-tinged garage, with bands from Glasgow, Dundee, Edinburgh, Bristol and London. For a free Saturday in the city centre, that's a lot of noise for nothing.

Plan your day
Set times have not been published. The organisers' advice is simple: "Get down early, stay late, let the fuzz wash over you."
